Significantly more compact than its Dragster sibling, the Black and Decker Belt Sander is actually more comparable to many other 6 amp belt sanders available today. A good size for easy storage, Black & Decker’s 3 X 18” would make a suitable gift for a do-it-yourselfer buddy or (why not?) yourself.

The belt sander comes with limitations, but there are also very specific advantages to the 3x18" sander. Obviously not as large as a 3 X 21” sander, a smaller, more compact machine allows for quick work. Being lighter, the 3 X 18” belt sander is more portable and can squeeze into those tight, hard to reach spaces, and its size also accounts for fast and aggressive work. However, the advantage of size doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t do a large job. This little beauty is still capable of handling floor areas as well as countertops.

The Black & Decker 3 X 18” belt sander’s 6 amp motor is nothing to balk at, and the angled belt design gets you two times nearer to the edges of adjoining surfaces. Like the larger Black & Decker Dragster, the 3 X 18” belt sander was designed with a flush body that allows for sanding right up against vertical areas. Clean up is a cinch, just simply utilize the dust bag zipper for easy emptying.

A brand new Black & Decker 3 X 18” belt sander may run for around $55, which is great value for its size and strength. If you are looking for something used, expect to pay anywhere from $20 to $40 depending on how much mileage it’s racked up.
