Understanding Belt Sander Tool Safety
Before you fire up your belt sander, inspect your sanding surface and make sure there are no metal objects, such as nails, screws, staples, or tacks, that might cause sparks (or worse, a fire) during operation. Also ensure your dust bag is empty and empty the dust bag at frequent intervals because you don’t want to overexert your dust collection system. Belt sanders are best use in small increments of time. The powerful vibrations can end up hurting your fingers, hands, or arms during extended use, so make sure to take lots of breaks if you’re dealing with a large job.
